So many times I have had to hunt down a piece of code, or find a method. This is my go to command. It simply allows me to search all text in a directory recursively and outputs the names of the files that contain my pattern or search string. Search strings in files using PowerShell:
Get-ChildItem "C:PathToSearch" -recurse | Select-String -pattern "String to find" | group path | select name
This will produce a list of full path files that contain the matched string. From this generated list it is much easier to narrow down and find what you are looking for.
You could actually get really creative do your fist search on the namespace that your trying to find, and then pipe the results into a second search with the method name, but i’ll leave that to you.
